iPhone SE 2020 - A game changer?

A Brief Introduction to iPhone SE

iPhone SE 2020

The original iPhone SE was a budget 4-inch iPhone before being discontinued in 2018, but Apple revived the name in April 2020 with a new 4.7-inch model that looks like an iPhone 8 with internals similar to those of the iPhone 11.

The iPhone SE is powered by the A13 Bionic processor. It has a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display with True Tone to match the ambient lighting in a room, Wide color, Dolby Vision, and HDR10. It brings back Touch ID with the fingerprint sensor sitting below screen.

the iPhone SE features a 1,821mAh battery, which is the same battery capacity as the iPhone 8. The 2020 iPhone SE supports fast charging, which means it can be charged to 50 percent battery life in just 30 minutes. Fast charging requires a USB-C power adapter that offers at least 18 watts. The iPhone SE has a glass body with a built-in wireless charging coil to support Qi-based wireless charging.

Available in black, white and (PRODUCT)RED, the iPhone SE is built with a glass front and back with a color-matched aluminum band. Wireless charging is supported and it features IP67 water and dust resistance so it will hold up to splashes and even brief submersions in water.

The iPhone SE 2020 has the same camera specifications as that of iPhone XR but due to the latest processor, it could be a tad better than the iPhone XR camera. The phone features a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7-megapixel selfie camera.

It can record 4K video at up to 60 frames per second with optical image stabilization and support for slow-mo video and time-lapse video. The front-facing camera supports Portrait Mode as well using the image signal processor and Neural Engine of the A13 Bionic.

Affordability

iPhone SE price

The iPhone SE has been launched in India at the starting price of Rs 42, 500 for the 64GB variant. For the 128GB variant, Apple has priced the phone at Rs 47,800. The top variant 256GB has a price tag of Rs 58,300. That is not all that affordable, you say?

It would make more sense if you could arrange from the US, Dubai, or HongKong or wait for Apple to reduce the price. As of now pricing of iPhones in India is dumb as iPhone X is expensive than iPhone XS also the difference between the price of iPhone XR and SE 2020 is around Rs10,000.

Target Audience and the future of iPhone SE 2020

This iPhone is a target to those audiences who bought iPhone 8 or 8 Plus even when iPhone XR's price was cut down drastically or for those who miss the fingerprint scanner or may for those whose hands are just large enough to hold a smaller iPhone or for those who have budget constraints and want to get into Apple ecosystem. I think its price would decrease due to some sales or maybe Apple decides to make it in India But it would take time.

So if you really want an iPhone now, go for iPhone XR if you could spend some extra cash because honestly in day to day life you won't feel any difference between A13 and A12 Bionic chip's performance plus you get a bigger screen and face ID (if you prefer it) or else buy the iPhone SE 2020 with some cashback offers.

Apple would be in profit if the iPhone SE would cost around Rs 30,000 in India as more people would get a chance to experience Apple's product and possibly get into its ecosystem as it would get more business for Apple in India. It's high time that Apple should consider India seriously since India has a big market.
