Apple unveils new 10.2-inch iPad

Apple today squeezed in a surprise product announcement during its typical iPhone and Apple Watch-focused event: a new iPad. The device is a 10.2-inch variant of the company’s tablet, slotting in at the entry-level as a replacement for the 9.7 inch iPad, as was rumored over the last few months. It’s officially the first seventh-generation iPad, Apple VP Greg “Joz” Joswiak said today onstage, and it’s available today starting at Rs.29,900.

Apple at its iPhone 11 launch event launched a new iPad model — the iPad (10.2-inch). Powered by the Apple A10 Fusion SoC, the new iPad features a 10.2-inch Retina display with an improved iPad OS. The new Apple tablet is made with 100 percent recycled aluminum and features a Smart Connector for the Smart Keyboard, as well as support for the first-generation Apple Pencil. The iPad 10.2-inch will go up for pre-orders from today itself in the US and will start shipping later this month. iPad (2019) price in India

The iPad (2019) price in India starts at Rs. 29,900 for its Wi-Fi only, 32GB storage base model, while the 128GB Wi-Fi only model has priced Rs. 37,900. The Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at Rs. 40,900 for the 32GB variant, while the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model is priced at Rs. 48,900. 

iPad (2019) Specification

The iPad (2019) runs iPad OS, and sports a 10.2-inch Retina IPS display with a resolution of 2160 x 1620 pixels, a pixel density of 264 PPI, and a 500-nit peak brightness. The iPad also supports the Apple Pencil (first generation). It is powered by the Apple A10 Fusion SoC, alongside the M10 coprocessor. 

Apple says the device weighs at just over 1 pound (483 grams) for the Wi-Fi model, starts at 32 GB of storage and can be expanded to 128 GB for $100 more, and comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera with all the standard iPad recording and photography features you’d expect.

Connectivity options on the iPad (2019) include Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.0, with the Wi-Fi + Celluar model also gaining GPS and LTE connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi calling, thanks to its Nano-SIM card slot and eSIM tech. It features stereo speakers and dual microphones. The iPad (2019) features a Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the bottom bezel, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, and a barometer. There is also a digital compass on board.
